A local man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Grand Coteau Friday.

Joseph N. Butler, 43, was booked with Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The shooting happened Friday, a spokesman for the Grand Coteau Police Department said.

Two men had been having an ongoing dispute for several months, the spokesman said. They saw each other Friday, and the argument escalated into a shooting, he said.

Butler is accused of shooting the other man, who was treated at a local hospital and is recovering, the spokesman said.

The investigation is continuing.
