Temporary buildings are being placed at Eunice Elementary while the school continues to recover from a fire earlier this month. Two buildings are currently on campus, and school officials are waiting for two additional buildings to be delivered.
The four buildings will house eight classrooms. Currently, all fourth-grade classes are being taught at Highland Elementary. No time table has been given on when the students will return to Eunice Elementary.
A “Declaration of Extreme Public Emergency” was approved by the St. Landry Parish School Board’s Buildings, Lands and Sites Committee.
The declaration goes before the full Board on Sept. 6.
