The Jennings Police Department has arrested a woman in connection with a shooting that occurred on South Main Street and Spencer Street in Jennings on Wednesday, August 1.

Police Cheif Danny Semmes says that an altercation between two male subjects led to the shooting where one victim was shot multiple times. Officers responded to the scene where they located the victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the shooting. He was transported to the Jennings Airport and then airlifted to a Lafayette hospital, according to Chief Semmes.

Police say that after the initial altercation between the two subjects one of the men left the scene and returned with his mother, identified by police as Kathleen Mouton. Cheif Semmes say that Mouton produced a gun and allegedly shot the victim numerous times before leaving the scene.

Officers investigating the scene uncovered evidence that led them to a residence on South Street in the city where Mouton was believed to be. At the same time, another call came in with information that Mouton was at another location. At that location, police were able to convince Mouton to turn herself in to police.

Mouton was arrested and booked on charges of 2nd-degree murder. She was transported to the Jeff Davis Parish Detention Center.

Chief Semmes says that the current condition of the victim is unknown.
