An author from Maryland was honored at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville today.
The city of St. Martinville teamed up with those at the Acadian Museum of Erath to induct Greg Woods into the Order of Living Legends.
Each year on July 28, the Order of Living Legends, established in 1996, recognizes someone for their contributions to the Acadian-Cajun culture.
Greg Wood’s expertise is the French and Acadian experience in Maryland, which he has documented since 1973. His Acadian and Québécois heritage on his mother’s side sparked his interest in the culture.
The day started out with a genealogy workshop at the St. Martinville library with a presentation by Wood.
