Deputies searching for two female inmates

Two female inmates escaped from custody at the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center 3 in Cottonport, according to Sheriff Doug Anderson, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at 11:30 p.m.Amanda G. Tassin, 22, and Bridget R. Gagnard, 34, both of Marksville, exited through the rear of the dorm they were housed in, then went through a hole cut in the perimeter fence by an accomplice outside the facility, stated the sheriff. Both women were incarcerated on non-violent offenses; Tassin was incarcerated for contempt of court and theft charges, and Gagnard was incarcerated for a parole violation, burglary, and theft charges.Tassin and Gagnard were last seen in the Cheneyville area during the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 25.Sheriff Anderson says investigators are working to positively identify the individual who assisted Tassin and Gagnard in escaping, at which point that individual will be charged.Anyone with information about the current whereabouts of Tassin or Gagnard is asked to call the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-253-4081.
