Port Barre Police help students prepare for school

It is almost time head back to school and to help students prepare, officers from the Port Barre Police Department are stepping in.The department is collecting school supplies through their annual back to school drive.Chief  Deon Boudreaux says the supplies will go to families in need of a little extra help.Collections have already begun for the annual Port Barre Police Department School Supply Drive.  Supplies will be accepted for the drive through August 9 at the Police Department on Saizan Avenue. Needed supplies include: Rulers  Glue  Backpacks Erasers Pencils and Pens  Clorox wipes  Loose leaf paper  Crayons Protractors Highlighters Dry erase markers  Kleenex  Paper towels  Gently used or new uniforms Notebooks: 1, 2, 3 and 5 subjects – please no college rule If you don’t have time to shop and you still want to help, you can also make a monetary donation and the department will do the shopping! For more information, call the Police Department at (337) 585-6212
