According to Lafayette Sheriff’s deputies, around twenty children became stranded in the Vermilion River this morning.  Deputies dispatched their marine unit who made contact with the children, and they are towing them and their vessel back to safety at this time.  There are no reports of injuries or what group the children are with.  We have a crew on scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
