After hours of deliberating, the Vermilion Parish School Board and the Attorney General’s office ended a meeting to discuss an incident where a teacher was arrested during a school board meeting.
Attorney General Jeff Landry is suing the school board saying they were in violation of the open meetings law when he says members attempted to stop a public debate.
The arrest happened after Deysahia Hargrave, a Vermilion Parish teacher, questioned the pay raise of Superintendent Jerome Puyau.   In the lawsuit Landry is also asking that all actions taken at the meeting in question be nullified, including the approval of Puyau’s raise.   No decision was made at today’s meeting.
