Lafayette General Foundation (LGF) is now accepting applications for the Mayci Breaux Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded to the student(s) who most exemplify Mayci’s passion for life and her pursuit of academic excellence in the field of radiologic technology.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be a Louisiana resident

Must be female

Must be enrolled in a radiologic technology program

Must attend or is attending a Louisiana college/university

Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at time of application

This is the third year LGF has been able to offer the scholarship to honor the memory of Mayci Breaux, a victim in the 2015 Grand Theatre shooting. What started with a $100 donation after the tragedy quickly grew into a $50,000 scholarship fund, when the scholarship was first announced. The fund is endowed through Goldman Sachs.

“We are very pleased and thankful that this scholarship continues to honor Mayci’s legacy,” says Cian Robinson, Executive Director of LGF. “Three years later, people are still trying to find ways to honor Mayci. The Breauxs have been instrumental throughout this process and in selecting the recipients. It is our goal to continue providing scholarships to young women who truly embody Mayci’s spirit, and it is our honor to do so.”

Applications for the 2018-2019 award year are due August 10, 2018. Awards are made based on the availability of accrued interest from the endowment. The expected award date is September 1, 2018, and public announcement of the winner(s) will be embargoed until September 25, 2018 (Mayci’s birthday).
