One arrested, another sought in Lake Charles slaying

A warrant has been issued for a second man in connection with the slaying of a Lake Charles man near Sulphur last week.

John Michael Deville, 68, was found dead near his truck, on the shoulder of Interstate 10. 

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies obtained a warrant for Kenneth "Fat Pat" Williams, 32, of Beaumont. The warrant calls for Williams to be booked with second-degree murder. Beaumont Police are assisting the sheriff’s office in looking for Williams. 

On Friday, Ronald G. McLain, 57, also of Beaumont, was arrested in Aransas Pass, Texas by local authorities. Deputies had been tracking his movements from Westlake for some time. 

Once he is extradited back to Louisiana, McLain will be booked with second-degree murder, two counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts simple burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. His bond has been set at $680,000. 

CPSO Violent Crimes detectives traveled throughout Texas and interviewed numerous individual and were able to identify Kenneth Dawayne “Fat Rat” Williams, 32, Beaumont, as another active participant in the Deville slaying.

Deputies allege that Williams and McClain enlisted the assistance of a juvenile in committing the offense.
