A New Chapter Push is hosting an anti-violence rally in New Iberia Saturday.

The Rev. James Broussard said he wants everyone in New Iberia to meet at the corner of Hopkins and Robertson streets at 5 p.m. to support the victims of recent violence and show their love for their city.

"We have been facing so much violence here in the city of New Iberia, we want to show our love for our city, our community and our neighborhood," Broussard said. "We are meeting the needs of those who have been victimized, let them know we’re supporting them, caring for them, that we’re going to get them the help that they need."

Broussard said he wants the rally packed with citizens and leaders.

"We’re looking for our leaders, our pastors, our organizations, because we know that we are better together in unit," Broussard said. "If we stand together in unity we will start to see the break of day."

Broussard said he believes if citizens, churches, businesses and leaders come together, a difference can be made.

"We want it to be packed. We want to show our love for our city. It’s going to be the day before the new police department takes over," he says. "So we are rallying and we are excited about what is taking place in New Iberia.

"There is hope."
