The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has released the name of the suspect wanted in connection with a house fire in Eunice.

The Fire Marshal’s office says that 25-year-old Daundric Johnson has been identified as the man that allegedly set fire to his ex-girlfriend’s home on Sunday.

A spokewoman with the fire marshal’s office says that Johnson has not been arrested.

The Fire Marshal was called in by the Eunice Fire Department after they were called to a rent house on College Road late Sunday evening. The fire was set in two places, investigators determined.

The home was being rented to a female tenant, who had been the tenant for the past year. However, that tenant reported recently breaking up with her boyfriend and telling him as recently as last Friday to come get his things from her residence.  The tenant was not at the home at the time of the fire.

Two witnesses reported seeing someone around the home just before the fire.  Area surveillance video confirmed the witness accounts and led investigators to the identity of a suspect, who is the tenant’s ex-boyfriend.

An active warrant is out for that Johnson’s arrest for Simple Arson and Criminal Trespassing, a spokeswoman said.

Investigators have identified a second potential suspect and are seeking that person out for an interview.

The Fire Marshal reminds everyone that they have a Hot Tip line for information about arsons.
