Following a nationwide search, KATC has chosen Katie Lopez to co-anchor its number-one rated morning show Good Morning Acadiana. Lopez is a familiar face to KATC viewers, having served as GMA’s Right Now Desk reporter for the past three years, and most recently as interim co-anchor. Effective immediately, she officially joins long-time KATC weather and news personality Dave Baker at the news desk.
“Katie was the logical choice especially with her roots to the Acadiana community and having her already part of the morning team. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her team, and more importantly to the families of Acadiana left her heads above all other applicants” said Andrew D. Shenkan, President and General Manager of KATC.
Lopez, an Acadia Parish native, looks forward to having a bigger role in KATC’s community partnerships, especially with the St. Jude Dream Home project. She also sees this new position as a great opportunity to mentor a new generation of local broadcast journalists.
