A person of interest is in custody following a bomb threat at the Walmart in Jennings this evening.

Jennings police received a call from Walmart’s management team at 6:45 p.m. about a report of a bomb threat at the store.

Jennings police, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s deputies, and state police responded to the store in the 300 block of E Interstate Dr.

The store had been evacuated, but normal operations are now resuming, according to the Jennings chief of police.

The chief said they discovered someone had written the threat on the wall of one of the bathrooms.

Law enforcement officers searched the premises but found nothing unusual, the chief says.

After investigators spoke with store employees, a person of interest was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
