Acadian Wind Symphony to perform free concert for community

The Acadian Wind Symphony will present a free concert for the community at UL next week.

“Raise The Roof” under the direction of Gerald Guilbeaux will be held in the Ducrest/Gilfry Auditorium at Angelle Hall on the UL Campus on Friday, June 29 at 7:30 pm. The concert features music celebrating the 100th birthday of legendary conductor and composer, Leonard Bernstein.

The performance will open with new work by Louisiana native Frank Ticheli titled “To Lafayette” and will also include a special appearance by, Dr. Brett Landry, Assistant Director of Bands and Percussion at UL, performing Michael Daugherty’s timpani concerto “Raise The Roof.” Guest conductor for this concert is Director of Bands at Loyola University in New Orleans, Dr. Serena Weren.

Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the E.K Long Gym with an entrance on Girard Park Drive.

This concert is free to the public.
