Lafayette Public Library to hold Clifton Chenier Block Party on June 27

The Lafayette Public Library will hold the Clifton Chenier Block Party on Wednesday, June 27 at the Chenier Branch Library located on 22 W. Willow Street in Lafayette.

The block party, according to the library, will include music, food, and fun for the family. The library says the event will be a great way to learn about the services available a the Chenier Center. 

The block party kicks-off at 5:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm. 

Relatives of Clifton Chenier will also be in attendance, according to the library. 

The list of activities for the evening includes:

  • Preview the M.I.Brary, the musical instrument lending library (a new service of the Lafayette Public Library’s Chenier Branch).
  • Enjoy music-inspired crafts and register for the Summer Reading Program at the Chenier Branch Library.
  • Super 1 Foods will be offering free healthy snack options.
  • Project Launch and ECCS CoIIN will hand out free books for children.
  • LCG Planning and Zoning will have updates on neighborhood-related projects.
  • Lafayette Police Department will have mounted police and a SWAT vehicle for children to check out.
  • Food fun and community health information provided by the Lafayette Parish Health Unit.
  • Jam to live music with the New Nation Brass Band and PMG (Philadelphia Music Group).
