On Friday, June 15, a Career Information Fair will be hosted by SLCC’s Corporate College Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The event will take place at SLCC’s Acadian Campus at 933 W. Hutchinson Ave in Crowley.

This is a free event that is open to the public. The event starts at 9 a.m. and continues to noon.

In addition to learning about the details of SLCC’s Corporate College CDL training program, attendees will be able to meet with area businesses to learn about the career opportunities available to men and women who hold a commercial driver’s license. Instructors and the CDL Program Manager, Charlotte Leleux, will be on hand to answer additional questions, such as ways to cover the cost of training.

"CDL is a high-growth, in-demand program that offers quality training so our community members can qualify for the thousands of jobs available in our region," said Jermaine Ford, Associate Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development at SLCC. "With first-year salaries starting at over $50,000 for truck drivers and our graduates receiving three to four job offers upon complete of the program, training with SLCC’s Corporate College CDL program for as little as 7 weeks is an incredible opportunity for Louisiana’s underemployed and unemployed to create long-term careers."

SLCC created the Corporate College in 2015 to offer continuing education courses, leisure learning programs, and customized training for businesses across 10 campuses. Short-term training programs to prepare community members to meet the demands of area businesses is their focus.
