ABBEVILLE, La — A city council resolution banning smoking in Abbeville’s city limits passed on Tuesday and will go into effect on September 1st.
The new city ordinance prevents smoking in establishments such as bars and bingo halls. Establishments have the option of creating designated smoking areas, but must make those areas outside of the primary business.
While many non-smoking workers of such establishments including musicians consider this a win, bar and bingo hall owners say they will lose business once the ordinance goes into effect.
