Today, the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office released today the identity of the person who drowned in May.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, deputies responded to the 3900 block of Northside Road in Iberia Parish in reference to a possible drowning, according to a spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Once on the scene, the homeowner told deputies he confronted a suspicious man on his property, and then the man ran away and jumped into Bayou Teche.

The homeowner told deputies that he watched the man swim for about a hundred yards before he went under the water and never resurfaced. Around 10:00 p.m., the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit recovered the body of 27-year-old Aaron Rogers.

All other details are pending the investigation and autopsy.
