The Louisiana Cattle Festival is moving to a new home.
The festival, which has been operating in downtown Abbeville for years, will be held this year at its new permanent home on Rodeo Road in Abbeville, according to a festival Facebook post.
The festival board decided unanimously to relocate the festival to the property, which the festival has owned since the 1950s. For years an old building has been there to house floats, but that building has been removed. to make room for the festival and its events.
"As a result of this decision, the Festival will now open on Thursday evening, October 11, with Fair bracelet night, as well as entertainment in the Red Barn, which will feature all entertainment throughout the weekend," the post states. "The Festival will now be gated, with the goal of national entertainment, in addition to local entertainment in the future. We appreciate all of your support and look forward to seeing you October 11-14, 2018."
