The Vermilion Parish School Board has renamed a building after a longtime Vermilion Parish School Board member and educator who died in 2015.

Charles Campbell died in June 2015 after a battle with cancer. He was serving his fifth term on the board when he died, and before serving as a board member he was an educator who served as director of federal programs, chief GED examiner; state certified program evaluator; grant writer; director of migrant and immigration education; teacher; and coach for the school system.

Wednesday May 23, 2018, the school board held a reception and re-dedication of the building. Campbell’s name will now be a permanent fixture on the wall of the facility now called the Charles Campbell Annex Building

Back in 2017, the board considered a resolution that would name the school system’s annex building after him.

Shortly after Campbell’s death, the board named a conference room after him.
