LOPA  (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center are honoring those who have given the gift of life through organ, tissue and cornea donation.

Today, family members of transplant patients and donors released butterflies in the Lourdes Labyrinth Garden, symbolizing the patient’s second chance at life and the donor’s heroism.

Betty Esprit attended the event on behalf of her mother. "Looking at the little butterflies flying around, you just sense peace, freedom and the beautiful world God created. Being here, I can sense her presence, and I can sense her spirit."

The hospital is currently flying the Donate Life flag in an effort to raise awareness for the crucial need for organs and tissues for transplant.
