St. Martinville Primary students are pumping each other up for LEAP testing.

In an effort to build enthusiasm for the ubiquitous standardized tests required by the state Department of Education, these pep rallies are held at schools across the state prior to spring testing.

At St. Martinville Primary, each grade level created its own chant and performed in front of the student body. There also were games, and a few door prizes. The aim was to bring some fun to school before the testing begins.

"It’s extremely important so that we don’t have to deal with any test anxiety and that kind of stuff. If they are prepared, they’ll be okay," said Sarah Allen, principal.
