The family of Romain Green is remembering the history of Green T. Lindon Elementary with a plaque.

Green helped establish the Youngsville school in 1959 for children of color before it was consolidated into the school it is today.

His family says although Green could not read or write himself he believed in educating children.

"We wanted to place a plaque below his picture that’s displayed here on the wall at the school to let the people and the public and the parents know that you have a great history and a visionary person who believed in education," said John Broussard, grandson of Green.
