A new pocket park in New Iberia has officially opened.
The Church Alley Park connects Main Street and St. Peter Street in New Iberia.
The project has been in the works for nearly four years and will serve as a mini-park. The park features benches and gardens along with other installations.
Now, city leaders are looking forward to other beautification projects.
"We’re going to do a canoe dock through the same funding source and try to awaken people to the Bayou Teche that runs through the center of our town. We want to start celebrating that history and taking that wonderful historic waterway and embracing it as an asset. We have this project, that project and a few more up my sleeves."
