A St. Landry Parish Grand jury has indicted a Lafayette teenager in a 2017 fatal shooting in Eunice

A True Bill was filed in the 27th Judicial District Court of St. Landry Parish against 18-year-old Rontreal J. Prejean for the second-degree murder of 23-year-old Tyrie Frederick.

The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without probation, parole, or suspension.

Prejean was arrested in December 2017 for the shooting which killed Frederick and injured three others. Investigators say the shooting occurred after a fight outside of the Southeast Neighborhood Center on City Avenue where Prejean was performing at a Christmas party.
