Eunice Police will be lease-purchasing five more police units.

As he has done twice before, Chief Randy Fontenot asked and received permission from the Eunice council to lease-purchase vehicles for his officers. This time, he’s buying Chevrolet Tahoes.

"It used to cost us $60,000 a year just on maintenance and we are now down to $40-45,000 so its saving us on maintenance," the chief said. " It gives us more reliable vehicles and a newer fleet which is always a good thing."

These vehicles will cost about $65,000 a year for three years to lease. After that, the city can buy them for $1.
