Ville Platte Police arrested a local man and booked him on drug and murder charges on Friday.
Jeffery Fontenot, 32, was booked with distribution and possession of schedule II narcotics and second-degree murder, Chief Neal Lartigue said.
Fontenot is accused in connection with the July 2016 death of a Ville Platte man who died of a drug overdose, the chief said.
Fontenot is accused of giving the man the drugs that killed him, the chief said.
He remains in the parish jail on a $90,000 bond.
