Community leaders are addressing crime with kids and teens in New Iberia after 16 shootings in the city since the start of the year with the most recent being two nights ago.

The young adults were taught how they can make a good impression on others around them and how to be a positive influence in the community.

"If they’re taught at an early age, then they will remember everything they are taught, and that’s going to be passed onto the next generation, and if they’re not taught, they are just going to learn negative behaviors," said guest speaker Shannon James.
