The staff at LARC’s Acadian Village is celebrating life while remembering members of the community that have died.

The memorial was held at the butterfly sanctuary, which was set up by Gordon Lavergne, who hopes the area will serve as both a home and food source for migrating monarch butterflies.

Participants were able to release a butterfly in memory of someone who’s passed.

"It’s just a good way to remember our loved ones that have passed and just to celebrate life and to talk about the stories of our loved ones. It’s a really nice thing that we like to put on," said John Simpson, Director of Patient Care for Hospice of Acadiana.
