A Lafayette man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Hebert’s Boudin in Opelousas on Easter that injured a woman and a juvenile.

St. Landry Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says that on  April 1, 2018, that deputies responded to a shooting at Hebert’s Boudin Shop/ Valero Gas Station on I49 Service Road in Opelousas.  Two people were reported to be shot according to the investigation.

According to a release, it was later learned that the two victims were being treated at area hospitals.  Reports indicate that there was a large group of people in the parking lot of the closed business when two men were about to fight.  Witnesses stated that 20-year-old Trevonta Jamal Arceneaux aka "Bombay" of Lafayette was standing near the two men and followed one of them, appearing to assist the other fighter.

A victim who is a juvenile then approached Arceneaux and advised him not to interfere in the fight.

The juvenile then turned his back away from Arceneaux and Arceneaux then allegedly raised a handgun and shot the juvenile in the back.  A witness at the scene stated that they saw a woman run towards the juvenile laying on the ground and put her arms around him. The woman was then shot in the back, according to police

Detectives requested the assistance of the US Marshal’s Office when it was learned that Arceneaux was hiding in Lafayette.

Marshal’s located Arceneaux on Friday and placed him under arrest, St. Landry Parish detectives then transported him to the parish jail for processing.
