LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA — A man in Lafayette Parish woke up this morning to walk his dog - and to check on his neighbors.
Abraham Rubin said that his neighborhood in Derby Heights sees this type of flooding often, and he takes it upon himself to check on all his neighbors, especially the elderly.
He always makes sure they are okay and have everything they need.
He said he has been getting calls all day from people asking if their homes are okay.
He added that his neighborhood knows how to prepare for storms like this, and they put out sandbags in an effort to protect their homes.
