Last year, several participants complained about frustrations related to the Scott Mardi Gras parade.

This year, the City will be coordinating the parade, officials announced Monday.

"The City of Scott Mayor and City Council are excited to announce that beginning in 2026, the City of Scott will officially take on the role of coordinating the annual Mardi Gras Parade to be held February 7th, 2026," a release states. "This treasured tradition brings families, friends, and neighbors together to celebrate the joy and spirit of Mardi Gras right here at home. The City is proud to continue this wonderful event and looks forward to creating a fun, safe, and family-friendly celebration for everyone to enjoy."

Parade registration opens on December 8, 2025, and participants can register online at www.cityofscott.org Whether you’re a local business, school group, organization, or family, everyone is welcome to be part of the festivities.

Until now, the local business association handled the parade.

"The Mayor and City Council would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Scott Business Association for their many years of dedication in organizing and leading this event. Their time, effort, and community spirit have made the parade a highlight of the Mardi Gras season in Scott," the release states.

“We can’t wait to see our community come together for a day filled with music, celebration, and family fun,” said Mayor Jan-Scott Richard. “The Scott Mardi Gras Parade has always been about celebrating who we are as a community, and we’re proud to carry that tradition forward.”
