LYDIA — Shoppers across Acadiana are stocking up ahead of Tropical Storm Barry.
People of all ages know it's important to prepare before a big weather event.
"If I was in the middle of a tropical storm, I would have tons of food and drinks because you don't know," said shopper Rayne Lacoste.
Shopper Nova Phillips says her go-to items are chips and water, specifically hot chips and nachos.
Water is essential, but, according to shopper Lainie Phillips, "You need some taste, though!"
That's why some suggest stocking up on juice, soda, or even adult beverages.
If it's a really bad storm, you'll need some other items, too.
Shopper Anthony Mano suggests batteries and canned goods.
You should also have a plan in case the electricity goes out.
"Have generators, meat for the week, and make sure you have enough of a little bit of everything," said shopper Tiffany Broussard.
Shopper Mary Ann Laxey says she'll make the best of any situation.
"If we run out, well, we cook on the burner," said Laxey. "We cook outside and enjoy it."
