NEW IBERIA — "They're fighting on this bus!" a man can be heard saying in a video.
A neighbor's home surveillance video captured the chaos at a New Iberia bus stop Friday morning when, according to police, two parents got on the bus and started punching the driver.
The bus still in motion, you can see it backing up in the video as children run away.
"We have enough problems with out youth here in New Iberia, we need parents to set a better example than that," Thomas Spencer, a father who lives nearby, said.
The bus driver's family tells KATC the driver had an issue with the suspect's child this week.
"We did see the surveillance, but it does not show the bus driver physically putting her hands on the child," Sgt. Daesha Hughes stated.
Parents nearby said the situation should have been handled differently.
"My personal opinion, there are many different ways our problems can be resolved," Spencer said.
Another video shows the suspects driving away before police arrived; the bus driver left bloodied and bruised.
NIPD says one suspect, Neshana Collins, turned herself in to police Friday afternoon. Police are still looking for an additional suspect, Travis Layne, in connection with the incident.
