DELCAMBRE — Parts of Delcambre remained flooded on Monday following the Barry's arrival to the Louisiana coast on Saturday, July 13.

Residents on S. President Street have started cleaning up their homes after taking on water.

"The water wasn't going that fast, but the wind was kind of taking it. But, it was still rising slowly," said Carley Evans.

Carley frequently visits her grandparents' home and says her grandfather just finished renovating the downstairs when Hurricane Barry brought in heavy rains.

"It's very upsetting that he had just finished the outside kitchen that he had just made, and it all flooded away," said Carley. "So, we might have to redo that."

Eric Robicheaux, who lives down the street, says his property took on about two-and-a-half feet of water.

He evacuated Friday and returned Monday to find his property mostly dry but damaged.

Neighbors say the water has gone down, but there's still work to be done.
