A Lafayette family is looking for answers after they say someone shot and killed their pet goat. Months after they took in the goat and named him Uncle Baby Billy Goat, he was found shot in the neck with a gun and killed. The owner says the goat became part of her family.

"He was like a little dog," the owner, who doesn't want to be identified, said. "He wasn't your typical goat. He thought he was a puppy. My girls played with him a lot. He became part of our family."

She says their goat was found shot and killed in the middle of the day near their home. Now they're left with questions. "Who's coming around that would do something like this," she said. "It's just scary. It's unnerving and keeps us up at night."

The family now offering a $500 reward for anyone with information. The Humane Society is also stepping in and matching that amount, making it a total of a $1,000 to find the person responsible.

"What is concerning is not only our pet was shot," she said. "There's someone firing a gun in our neighborhood within our vicinity, if not near aimed at my property. I have little girls. My neighbors has little girls. It's a little disturbing."
