CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — Sara Powell decided to play host to a Saturday night Zoom call with eight other couples — but she was upstaged by a country superstar.

"We were sitting there, getting ready to play, and, all of a sudden, a block comes up on the corner of the screen and says Brad Paisley and we were like, 'what!" Justin Knapp said.

With happy Hours and bar crawls moved online to Zoom amid the coronavirus pandemic, 3-time Grammy winner Brad Paisley opened his Zoom account to invites last week and said he would try and "crash" as many online parties as he could.

Powell figured she'd give it a shot.

"I didn't really tell anyone," Powell said. "So I sent him the invite and 15 minutes later he popped on."

"So we're sitting there, just kinda logging in and everyone is getting their drink and he's like 'hey what you guys drinking?' and we were like 'wait, you're responding to us'? What's going on?" Teaka Knapp said.

Paisley led a singalong with the group and even chatted with them for a bit. Those on the call said Paisley was "down to Earth."

"He talked to us for a good 10 to 15 minutes," Justin Powell said.

Justin Powell said that after 15 minutes of hanging out, Paisley told them he needed to go.

"He was in his garage and was like 'hey I gotta go soon, my wife said dinner is ready,'" Justin Powell said.

Sara says she's working on more surprises for her Zoom parties.

"So we're really hoping for some other people, if they wanna hop on," Sara Powell said. "They just need to send me a message."
