The President of UL Lafayette's Louisiana Association of Student Nurses (LASN) Katherine Comeaux, a graduating senior at the university, stopped by GMA this morning to give us details on this year's LASN Convention.

LASN is the statewide professional organization that caters to student nurses. The organization's mission is to promote the health and well-being of all people by preparing future leaders and scholars in the health sciences. Louisiana Association of Student Nurses is a statewide community enabling the transition of the student to professional nursing through leadership, education, mentorship, and stewardship.

The 65th Annual LASN Convention will take place October 3-5 at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette. This event features high school students and college nursing students throughout the state of Louisiana. The convention will feature guest speakers, an awards banquet, resume and career building workshops, a superhero theme opening night party, community-wide donation drives for disaster preparedness benefiting the Cajun Navy, and community health drive for Toys for Tots and the Assist Agency in a community action partnership, exhibitor and sponsor tables.

Students have opportunities for scholarships, NCLEX review, test taking strategy classes, and much more.
