Iota is known as the little town with the big heart.
And on September 28, that little town proved just how big their heart is.
Carrie Leckelt says there was always a goal in mind when it came to a dollar amount for Fall Fest 2019.
The number they actually raised far exceeded their expectations.
"We were thinking that we would get $25,000, but to hear that we got $58,000 is amazing," says Leckelt.
Carrie says, that the funds will go towards the construction of the Iota's first community park.
Work on the park should start in the spring at its location next to the Iota Volunteer Fire Department.
"We can break ground starting with the dirt work," she says. "The walking track will be next after we do the dirt work."
But why a park?
Carrie says it's simple.
"We need that for our kids here in town."
With money in the bank and community behind them, Leckelt says Fall Fest 2019 just goes to show that when you believe in something anything can happen.
"I'm so thankful that everyone gave to it and everybody believes in the same thing," she says. "We all are working together to get this park for our community that we need."
