Robert LeBon, President of the Acadiana Area for Veterans organization, stopped by GMA to share how a Lafayette funeral home is preparing to honor veterans this Veterans Day and the holiday season.
Fountain Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery will host their annual Veterans Day program on November 11 at 9:00 am on Pandora Street in Lafayette.
The service will be held in the veteran's section of the cemetery and feature veteran honor guards, patriot music selections, and a veteran speaker.
The service will last about one hour. A reception under the pavilion will follow the service.
More information on the Veteran's Day event can be found on Facebook.
Along with the program, the funeral home began delivering care-packages to veterans in October to honor their service. Volunteers are still needed to help deliver packages to veterans in the Acadiana area.
Packages will be delivered until December 8.
Those interested in volunteering for care-package delivery, visit the funeral home's website or email a representative at the Acadiana Area for Veterans organization at 1stofficer@cox.net
Fountain Memorial is taking their veteran memorial services beyond Veterans Day and into the holiday season by taking part in Wreaths Across Acadiana on December 14. The program honors fallen veterans.
