This October, the Louisiana Foundation for Cancer Care will host a night of celebration for breast cancer awareness at the Hilliard University Art Museum in Lafayette.

Three time cancer survivor Rose Hoffman Cormier and Oncologics Operations Manager Linda Rose sat down with our Dave Baker on the show this morning to share more.

"Survivors Under the Stars," a breast cancer awareness event, will be hosted at the museum in Lafayette on Wednesday, October 9, starting at 6:30 pm.

The event is open to breast cancer survivors, family, friends, and health care providers. The reception will include a celebration with motivational speeches and testimonies, and hors d'oeuvres from area restaurants.

Julie Larson, LCSW, will be the evening's keynote speaker and address topics concerning cancer survivorship. Larson is a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice in both New York City and the Midwest.

Guests will also hear testimonies of other cancer survivors.

A "Lighting of Luminaries" will close the reception and honor cancer survivors.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 on Eventbrite.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Louisiana Foundation for Cancer Care and its mission to provide support, assistance, and educational programs to cancer patients, their families, and the community.
