LAFAYETTE, La. — For Bam Da Barber, when his job in the oil field just wasn't cutting it, he decided that was exactly what he needed to do - cut!

"I used to cut my own hair here and there so i don't know i just had this idea to become a barber," says Bam.
Now ten months into schooling and an apprenticeship, he's starting to turn heads.

"He started doing designs in my head and I was kind of a guinea pig at first but this is what he's doing now," says his happy client DJ Jay Da Wizard.

"Every time I get done I'll spin them and BAM there it is! I love to see somebody walk away with a smile on their face. I love to see somebody happy or feeling younger or like a changed man," says Bam.

His hope, beyond creating a physical change for his clients, is making an impact and inspiring his community.

"I eventually want to become an educator and an influencer in the beauty industry and be able to help troubled youths maybe find a different way of life," says Bam.

If you'd like to visit him, you can make an appointment at Xclusive Kuts barbershop on West Pinhook in Lafayette.
