KATC’s Josh Meny is LIVE at Blackham Coliseum with more details on this weekend’s 32nd annual Zydeco Extravaganza which kicks-off this Sunday, May 27.

Started in 1987 by the Cravins Family, the Zydeco Extravaganza was a way to revive Creole culture in St. Landry Parish and surrounding areas.

The Extravaganza brings in fans of Zydeco music from across the globe to enjoy events like an amateur accordion contest and music from big named singers like Beau Jocque, Boozoo Chavis, Keith Frank, Terrance Simien, Curley Taylor, Geno Delafose, Zydeco Force, and Chris Ardoin.

A full line-up of performances is available at

Tickets can be purchased online at and from Don Cravins Insurance in Lafayette and Opelousas.

Food and drinks will be available during the event. Lawn chairs are allowed and organizers ask that those attending arrive early to get a good spot. Ice chests and outside food and drink are not allowed.
