UPDATE: As of 1:00 pm, all lanes of I-49 south are now open following a vehicle fire near Gloria Switch.
Earlier Tuesday, a vehicle fire closed both lanes of I-49 south at Gloria Switch and caused major congestion. One lane of traffic was opened after the fire was extinguished.
Lafayette Police say they assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Images from viewers showed a vehicle fire being extinguished by firefighters. The car was located on the side of the roadway just off the overpass at Gloria Switch.
