Starting a new business during a time when COVID-19 is taking a toll on the economy might seem impossible. Still, the owners of Grind Nutrition celebrated their grand opening in Breaux Bridge this week and are happy to say, "we're open."

"We thought, due to the coronavirus, everything wasn't going to be to so good," said Karen Deleon.

Three business women decided to expand Grind Nutrition to Breaux Bridge, despite a few roadblocks along the way.

"It took a long time to get all of our products and to get everything ready because all of the stores were closed," said Deleon.

Although shipments from distributors came slow, the three owners wanted to give their loyal customers a healthy nutrition option without having to make a drive.

"They had a lot of customers from Breaux Bridge going to Carencro to get their drinks," said Deleon.

The initial goal was to make the type of drinks that were missing in the Breaux Bridge community.

"We just felt like if we're healthy, we should try to make everybody healthy. In a good way, not just get healthy drinks that don't taste good. But, to give healthy drinks with flavor," said Deleon.

The business idea seems to be a hit thus far, giving the staff a grand opening beyond what they had ever imagined.

"It's actually going pretty well. We have a lot of customers. It's just so exciting. We just really didn't expect this," said Deleon.
