Winds: 75 mph
Gusts: 90 mph
Movement: NW at 6 mph

Location: 40 miles South of Lafayette

With the 10 AM update the National Hurricane Center says Barry has now strengthen to a category 1 hurricane with winds up to 75 mph.

Hurricane warnings have been extended for Lafayette and St. Martin parish for the possibility of seeing winds as strong as 75 mph.

The National Hurricane Center also says Hurricane Barry is now making landfall along the coast of Vermilion Parish.

Heavy rains still looks to be the biggest concern with Hurricane Barry later this afternoon and evening.
