Happy Friday, y'all! We'll stay muggy this evening and overnight into Saturday morning as lows only drop into the mid and upper 70s.
Temperatures will continue to climb heading into the weekend as highs soar into the mid and perhaps upper 90s for some. Heat indices will be in the lower and mid 100s, so proper heat precautions and practices remain heavily advised.
Rain chances will sit in the 30% range for the entirety of the weekend for those brief heavy downpours that pop-up in our afternoons. Otherwise, partly cloudy skies and hot conditions will dominate.
Drier air looks to start moving into the area from the north for the start of next week which should help to lower our rain chances slightly. Hope y'all have a great weekend!
In the tropics: We continue to monitor Tropical Storm Josephine out in the Atlantic, but the forecast remains the same. It'll eventually re-curve out to see and dissipate in the coming days. It remains no threat to us here in Acadiana.
We are also watching newly formed Tropical Storm Kyle off the eastern sea board, but like Josephine, it'll harmlessly stay out to sea. No threat to the Gulf Coast.
The rest of the tropics remain quiet at this time.
