The first weekend of 2021 will be a seasonably cool and quiet one for Acadiana.

Look for a fair bit of cloud cover mixed with some intervals of sun into Saturday while plenty of sunshine is expected for Sunday after an upper level disturbance clears the area Saturday night.

Temperatures Saturday morning will drop into the chilly upper 30s to lower 40s, but frost is not expected due to persistent wind and a fair bit of high cloud cover.

Saturday is expected to start partly sunny but could go mostly cloudy for many as another upper level disturbance swings on through the area.

Temperatures Saturday will be tempered by the clouds with highs holding in the relatively chilly low-mid 50s.

Skies are expected to clear Saturday night, and with lighter winds by morning, there could be some patchy frost in spots by daybreak, especially in the usual rural areas and the northern Acadiana parishes.

Lows Sunday morning will range from the lower 30s to the north to mid-30s along and south of the I-10 corridor.

With lots of sunshine expected Sunday, temperatures should rise into the upper 50s...close to the normal of lower 60s for this time of year.

Sunny and miler temperatures are anticipated early next week with highs pushing into the mid-60s Monday and Tuesday, and perhaps upper 60s to near 70° Wednesday.

Our next weather-maker will come in the form of a cool front and upper disturbance Wednesday night with the chance of scattered showers...roughly near 60%.

There does not appear to be a severe weather threat with the next system.

Seasonably cool and dry conditions should follow later next week with clouds eventually increasing deeper into next weekend along with the possibility of some rain re-developing by next Sunday.
