Nice Wednesday, cold front arrives late Thursday

and last updated

Acadiana will get to enjoy another mostly sunny and pleasant day Wednesday before clouds increase Thursday ahead of a cool front that will arrive Thursday night.

After a a slightly cooler morning start in the low-md 50s Wednesday, look for afternoon high temperatures to reach the mid to upper 70s.

High clouds will increase Thursday night holding temperatures in the lower to mid 60s, with more extensive cloud cover expected Thursday.

A few breaks in the clouds Thursday however, could allow temperatures to briefly touch 80 degrees in spots before shower activity kicks in during the afternoon.

Rain shower activity expected late Thursday into Thursday night should be scattered in nature, with an outside chance of a few isolated thunderstorms.

No severe weather nor heavy rainfall is expected with rain totals expected to be generally in the 1/3 inch range or less...a few isolated spots however could catch up to an inch of rain, if and where a thunderstorm might form.

Temperatures will cool into Friday with lingering high cloud cover making it feel more like winter.

Temperatures Friday will top out in the mid to upper 50s while clearing skies into Friday night should all for temperatures to drop into the upper 30s for Saturday morning.

This weekend looks mostly sunny and cool with highs Saturday in the lower 60s and mid-upper 60s Sunday after another morning start in the upper 30s.

Another, and more potent cold front is expected to push through the area sometime Monday bringing our temperatures down another notch for the rest of the week.

It should feel very much like winter (by Acadiana standards) Tuesday through the end of the week, and quite possibly into the weekend, with a fair bit of cloudiness accompanied by daytime highs in the 40s and 50s while overnight lows flirt with the mid-30s.

If we get a night of clearing skies, we could see a light freeze Tuesday and/or Wednesday mornings, or perhaps later in the week, but currently there is well below normal confidence in the longer range forecast models.
